A sad end to an historic boozer

Sunday saw the closing of the Egypt Cottage. These pictures were taken yesterday as the vultures gathered to rip out its soul.

The lights are on but nobody's home.

Where once there was joy.

Only the ghosts of buskers past remain.

  1. The Cottage - the post-show drinking venue for the guests and hosts on The Tube, those many years ago. The pre-Riverside drinking venue for those heading off to see some good, bad or indifferent music act.

The Rose and Crown, a decent hostelry that lay opposite has long since gone.

The Barley Mow was turned into a shithole many years ago and, for all I know, may not exist in any way, shape or form.

What are they going to put in its place?
