Surfin' USA
A full house from the off, this was a welcome return to The Habit open mic night of old. Maybe it was the fine weather or the current surfeit of football that drew folks out, but who cares. Perversely there were fewer players than in previous weeks, so between us we racked up a total of 14 songs, including the 'new' You Got A Friend. The last turn of the evening was a lass with a fine voice and a tuneful guitar technique. Her final number was Tom Jones' Sex Bomb; a guy came forward from the audience and produced a Bb cornet to accompany a rather surprised songstress! It was like disco meets Buena Vista. It's why we keep going!
