L. S. Lowry in Berwick and Northumberland

L.S Lowry in Berwick & Northumberland
The Granary Gallery, Friday 20 June, 12noon.

Berwick Visual Arts Press Launch

L.S Lowry is one of the UK’s best loved artists famous for his industrial scenes of the North of England. It is less well known that he had a great love for the North-East of England and was a regular visitor to Northumberland and Berwick-upon-Tweed from the 1930’s onwards.

'L.S. Lowry in Berwick & Northumberland' brings a number of these original works of Berwick-upon-Tweed to the town for the first time, alongside works that capture wider Northumberland and his fascination with the sea.

You are invited to join us for the press launch of this new exhibition which includes loans from The Lowry, Salford; The Lowry Estate and Sunderland Museum & Art Gallery and will celebrate Lowry's unique connection to the town of Berwick and the wider North-East.

Claire Stewart, Curator of The Lowry Collection, Salford will be present to discuss Lowry's connections to the area in more detail with journalists and refreshments will be served courtesy of the YHA Granary Bistro.

Please confirm you attendance to berwickvisualarts@maltingsberwick.co.uk or 01289 333 075 no later than 12noon on Thursday 19 June.

If you require more information about the exhibition please contact James Lowther, Head of Visual Art - Berwick Visual Arts on 01289 333 075 or email james.lowther@maltingsberwick.co.uk
