THE Friday Boys are a disparate group of men spread across Tyneside who meet once a week - 'always on a Friday' - to talk about the arts, raise a glass to recently departed heroes and villains and, at the evening's end, down a whisky or two. ARTHUR ASKEY MAKES SURPRISE APPEARANCE AT MICHAEL JACKSON MEMORIAL CONCERT
Controversy that Askey chose to perform 'Busy Bee' at the finale of the memorial ceremony over-shadowed the tribute. After the show, ex-'girlfriend' Brooke Shields, condemned the long-dead British comic. She said: "It was mean-spirited of Askey to promote his new material at a time of grieving. He had promised to sing 'Man in the Mirror' as a duet with Green Day. That would have been perfect."
